Mama of two over here just living and learning about all of the baby products out there. There are A LOT let me tell you. When I started this blog, a goal of mine was to provide information to other moms out there. Whether that be inspirational or just plain informative- I know one thing and that is mommin’. Along this motherhood journey, I have discovered products that I just can’t live without. In a follow up post I will share a list of those for you- for now, I want to share my thoughts about our newest obsession- the DockATot. Before I start, I want to say thank you to the team over at DockATot for making us feel like a part of the team, sending us this product and their continued professionalism throughout working together.
1. We use it for everything
The DockATot is multi-functional, you know- every mother’s dream. It can be used as a co-sleeper or as a playtime lounger. What I love most about it, is that I can bring it with me places. When Dax was a newborn, we had to travel some to visit family. I was sleep deprived as it was and did not want to mess with the little sleep I did get while on the go. What did I do? I packed up that baby lounger and brought it with us! Dax was not phased at all about not being home because to him, his bed felt exactly the same. If I wasn’t using it for sleep, I was using it for a lounger. Of course before he started rolling, I’d lay him down next to me on the floor while I blogged or washed dishes- more blogging than dishes but who’s asking?! Now that we’ve upgraded to the next size, Dax still lays in his DockATot while watching his favorite show. That’s a win in my parenting book.
2. It grows with your baby
The DockATot comes in two different sizes. The Deluxe is designed for ages 0-8 months, ideal for a newborn as it mimics the cozy feel of the womb and is perfect for co-sleeping which we did with both Lennox and Dax. The Grand is ideal for ages 9-36 months. I would recommend starting out with the Deluxe so your baby is familiar with the feel from an early age and they will transition easily into the larger size later on. After trying both, there is a huge difference in size. Lennox is 3 and can easily fit into the Grand. Just food for thought when deciding which size is right for you.
3. Perfect for transitioning to crib or toddler bed
As I mentioned previously, because of this lounger I was able to move Dax from place to place without disturbing his sleep. The consistency of the DockATot underneath him was the reason transitioning was an easy experience for us. I did not have this wonderful lounger when Lennox was a baby, she still sleeps with us and I’m convinced it’s because the transition period was tough on all of us. From co-sleeping to crib, Dax was minimally affected by his transition. As far as he knew, he was sleeping in the same bed as he always had. Now if only I could get him to wean nursing through the night, I’d be a happy and well rested mama!
4. It’s all natural and machine washable
Every DockATot is made of all natural 100% cotton and is Oeko- Tex certified. This means that their fabrics are free of harmful chemicals and are safe for humans to use. I am not always the overachiever mom that has to have everything 100% natural, no one has time for all of that- this is merely a bonus in my eyes. When it comes to my babies, of course I want the best as most moms do. It is a huge selling point knowing the company cares about the material it uses for your sweet bundle of joy. When spilt milk or a nasty blowout happens, just unzip the cover and throw it into the wash- it’s that easy! Putting it back on is a little tricky if I’m being honest but nothing you smart mamas can’t figure out.
5. Tested for breathability and temperature control
I was skeptical at first because I wondered how safe the product really was for my sleeping newborn. After researching, I discovered that DockATot takes their safety and quality certifications very seriously-which is so comforting for this mama of two. The main thing I liked is that it doesn’t harbor heat, the last thing I want is for my baby to overheat in their sleep. Knowing the company took these extra precautions is another reason we decided to give them a try. It is recommended to lay your baby on their back- never let your newborn lay on their tummy in any baby lounger or crib.
